Responsible Management of Public Funds
As the county’s chief financial officer, the Auditor is responsible for ensuring financial systems are accurate, transparent, and accountable. This work requires attention to detail, consistency, and a strong understanding of how public funds move through government systems.
I have spent decades working with budgets, financial policy, and long-term planning, working both inside government and alongside it, helping improve financial systems and ensure accountability. I understand where vulnerabilities can occur and how to strengthen internal controls. My focus will be on clear reporting, responsible oversight, and supporting departments in managing resources effectively. Strong financial stewardship protects public services and builds lasting trust.
Financial systems work best when they are consistent and well understood. Departments need clear processes, and the public needs confidence that funds are being managed responsibly. That requires ongoing monitoring, regular review, and a willingness to address issues before they grow into larger problems.
I also believe that transparency in financial reporting is essential. People should be able to see how resources are being used and understand the decisions behind them. Clear, accurate financial information supports accountability and helps build confidence in government over time.
